Update from the American Odyssey Relay

Ignore how bad I look. 2 hours of sleep is not flattering.

22 MHC LIVE

This morning I did my first live post on Facebook (which I didn't delete!) at 5am this morning. Since I have been talking nonstop about this program, I just had to show you guys what 22 Minute Hard Corps is all about!

Today's workout was Cardio 2 and this one is NO JOKE. I love it more than the other workouts, but that may be because the lack of oxygen to my brain since I am huffing and puffing.

Can you guess my favorite move? Gorilla Crawls!!!

This may be considered one of the cruelest moves in the program (even Tony says that it is a bitch), but the challenge is what makes me crave the crawls! It burns my thighs and honestly, that's what they need! They are skinny sticks and need some shaping up! Sadly, my calves are almost as big as my thighs. Not attractive!!!

By the end of the workout (which is not shown), I am sweaty and on the floor gasping for air! Though that may seem like a reason not to do this workout, this one gives me a high.

I have only just made it to week 3, but I can see that 22 Minute Hard Corps is really shaping me up! I love it and am thinking about breeding it with Hammer & Chisel once I am done to get more muscle gains.

If you are interested in learning more about 22 Minute Hard Corps, hit me up by emailing me at runfrecklesrun@gmail.com! Or comment on this post! I got your back!! :)

Skinny Leg Syndrome

Today at 5am, I began Day 2 of 22 Minute Hard Corps. That meant it was my first time trying the Resistance 1 workout. Like yesterday, I filled up my cup with the Energize Powder and went to it!

Just as I did P90X3, I am putting my focus on the strength portion of the program. I want to build muscle definition more than anything! I am tired of being "so skinny." It gets old! I want to put some muscle on my bones and fit into my jeans again! And by "fit into my jeans," I mean fill them in because they are baggy around my toothpick thighs. See Exhibit A below.

In Resistance 1, there are push-ups, pull-ups, squats, sit-ups, and more! I am trying to master form and get deep into the moves so I can get the best results! If you half-ass it, you are only making it easy on yourself and the results won't be as killer! And I want to grow the muscles I already developed from doing P90X3, not lose them.

Tomorrow I intend on going live on my personal Facebook so you can see just how crazy these 22 minutes really are! If I do, I will post the video on here. I have been including videos on SnapChat since it's easy, but I think it's time to take my videos to a wider mass of peeps!

I do believe I will get a run in tomorrow afternoon as well. I am trying to return to my normal running schedule... at least until the Odyssey Relay is said and done. Then, that will be the end of my 2 year training season. I don't plan on resuming another training plan until August either. I sure learned my lesson from this last string of races! I can't imagine I will ever go that hard for that long again. The injuries and the exhaustion was a bit much for me! But, that doesn't mean I am not looking forward to future marathons! My next is slated for October! :)

Anyway, hope you all had a joyous Monday! I know I did. Keep rocking this week, my friends!

What part of your body would you like to see more tone?

Do you suffer or have suffered from toothpick legs? If you were able to overcome it, how did you go about it?

22 Minute Hard Corps: Day 1

Greetings, my friends! Happy Sunday!

This morning I began my next adventure with the Beachbody world. I started their newest fitness program, 22 Minute Hard Corps. Just as the name tells you, this is a 22 minute workout that will kick your ass into shape regardless of it's short session. So no schedule modifications for me like I had the P90X3 workouts. I am going at this full force!

I began my 60 day adventure this morning with the Beachbody Performance Energize powder.

I had saved this tub from when I initially became a Beachbody coach. I bought a challenge pack and because I was so far along with P90X3 already, I decided I would hold off until I started with a new plan. And now that day has come.

As I began sipping on this lemonade-like drink, I took my Fit Test.

Here is where I stand currently:
Push-Ups (1 minute): 38
Squat Thrusts (1 minute):
Pull Ups (30 seconds): 16
Planks: 3:29

I also took my before photos, which I am so bloated in (an explanation will come in a later post).

Once done, I turned turned on Beachbody on Demand and pressed play for Cardio 1.

The format of the workout is pretty cut & dry. There are several moves they push you through and once you complete them, you repeat (some with more & some with less reps) two more times. The last few minutes are a "burnout" phase to get you sweating buckets.

I thought the moves were pretty simple, yet challenging at the same time. Does that make sense? Anyone could do the maneuvers, but they were still tough on your body. After you'd get through a few reps, you just wanted them to be over. Like the bear crawl or burpees.

Anyway, after finishing up, I was sweating profusely.

Though I LOVED the workout, it was the longest 22 minutes I have ever endured in a workout.

I took no time to go into Core 1. This is an optional workout, but because I want firm abs and it's only 10 minutes, I decided to do it.

My only suggestion for this workout is to make sure you have the room. I did not expect to be rolling around on the floor and I surely did not have the room between my treadmill and shelf. It made the moves ineffective. I feel that if I don't think I am getting the max out of the workout in the next week, I will end up finding a new ab workout on BOD.

Once I finished day 1, I realized just how amazing the Energize powder was. I was talking a mile a minute to Peter about the workouts and how excited I was. He probably thought I was on steroids! In fact, prior to gulping it down, I thought maybe I'd skip running for yet another day. Nope! Changed my mind real quick. After finishing breakfast, we headed to Hancock to cheer on fellow runners in a marathon. Overall, we ran 4 miles and I STILL felt energized! I thought I would not order more of this stuff after I finished it up...but I may reconsider now! I bet I could totally ditch coffee for this.

So those are my thoughts on day 1! I hope to keep you guys updated on my progress and how the workouts are!

If you want to join me in doing 22 Minute Hard Corps, I'd be happy to have you jump right in to my challenge group!! Shoot me an email for more info!

P90X3 is COMPLETE!

I am presently jazzed up on Cafe Latte Shakeology!!! It is only because I mixed with two servings of black iced coffee. You can only imagine the AHHH I am feeling right now. Unless of course you have done this before. Probably not my greatest idea in the world, but it was REALLY GOOD! I have also been told coffee is great when mixed with the chocolate ShakeO as well. May have to try that!

Anyway, my friends, I have been so ecstatic about life that I was distracted from blogging. As you could see, I made Peter do a race recap of the marathon we ran! I was just all over the place with my current workout schedule!

So, as you may have read, the marathon was a success! Though training had it's ups and downs, we managed to conquer the race without much downtime! It was probably the easiest marathon I ever ran so far. I literally smiled the entire way despite some groin pain that came around mile 18.

Even so, I went running right the next day. In fact, Peter and I had a pretty good running streak going on after the race! It wasn't until this week I decided to take several days off from running. My body was tired of running and I wanted to respect that by resting from it!

For the last week though, I did stick with my yoga and P90X3 workouts...which HOORAY! I just finished my 90 days the other night! I am so proud of myself for making it through!

 Here's the result!

Total Inches Lost = 2 inches
Weight = Gained 3 pounds

For me, 2 inches is a BIG DEAL. I didn't expect to lose any inches at all since I feel I am already pretty tiny, but it happened! As for my weight, I think it was a combination of muscle gain and water weight. I am coming up on that time of the month.

I am taking today and tomorrow off from any workouts (minus some easy yoga) and getting back on workouts Sunday. I am starting the newest Beachbody Program: 22 Minute Hard Corps. I am going to do the calendar as laid out, with a little running here and there. I don't want to lose my running fitness, especially when I have a relay race at the end of the month! Can't let my team down! But still, I really want to do some other workouts than just running right now. I feel like my running muscles are exhausted and I need to focus on other aspects of fitness. P90X3 did that, but I want to submerse myself fully into this new program!

After seeing my body change with P90X3, I am so amped to take on this new workout (maybe it's the crazy amounts of caffeine that I have had!). I will be updating my Instagram (runfrecklesrun) and snapchat (runfrecklesrun) with my progress, so make sure to follow me there if I don't get around to the blog!!
