Remember this picture because tomorrow, we're supposed to have a foot of snow.
It's hard to believe that it was close to 50 degrees on my run this evening and we are to be buried tomorrow. So I thought it would be a great idea to hit the trail prior to the mess, but it was closed due to the weather "emergency". That was hours ago and it hasn't even begun. That put me in more of a rotten mood. I had already survived an awful day of work. I just needed to run!
At this point, I thought there was no harm in a road run. After going this long without running on asphalt, I can definitely feel
the difference and how damaging that surface must be on one's body! Though, if you
don't do it every day for long distances, I think a you would be
okay.
Anyway, I added an extra mile since the daylight allowed and my leg was not complaining. I had made sure to switch sides of the road so the camber wouldn't cause issues. I'm way too close to marathon day to hurt myself now. :)
To lighten my mood even more, Peter and I made another batch of our mouth watering banana nut muffins. This time, we doubled the recipe and added oatmeal and additional nuts on top.
They were just as amazing as before, if not more amazing! I really really suggest you try these if you enjoy bananas! I've already packed some for my lunch tomorrow. They will be the only thing to cheer me up in the wintery mess we will have to be dealing with. Ugh, why couldn't my treadmill be delivered already!!!
Do you road run often? How do you deal with the hard surfaces and road camber?
If there's a foot or more of snow and you don't have a treadmill, what do you do?
What is your favorite type of muffin?
