I Think I Will Bike Today

After running 14.4 miles over the course of 2 days, I did not imagine I would be this sore or tired. Yet, I assume each leg I ran over the course of the American Odyssey relay was like running a race.

So, to be in some pain makes a bit of sense. Also, I have not slept so great these past few nights. Especially Friday into Saturday with a whopping 2 hours of sleep. I'll get to that more when I do my recap, I just still don't have all of my brain back yet.

Today, I had a 10 miler planned, but that was not happening with my sore ankles. I biked instead.

It was my first time getting the mountain bike out this year, but I have been thinking about it for a while. Just never had the time to bike.

I will be the first to admit that I am not good at hills: running them or biking them. It wasn't until today that I finally worked up the courage to stand up on my bike to pedal uphill. I am not the most coordinated person, so I feared that standing on my bike would lead to an accident, whether falling off, steering into a car, or once getting to the canal, falling into the river. I avoided all three, fortunately. It made hills so much easier! I now have every intention to bike once a week to add to my leg workouts.

I am going to try to resume my normal running schedule tomorrow because I start tapering after Saturday for marathon #3. It's a good thing too because the temps have been way too high for me so far this Spring. We barely experienced the nice 50 and 60 degree temps that I love so much. It's already in the 80s. :(

Anyway, the recap for the Odyssey will be up soon! I have a video that I am putting together so you can catch a glimpse of some of the transitions. Woo!
